Alla Mitiukova

A story about children and adults who migrated from eastern Ukraine because of the war and found themselves far from home in a hostel for displaced people. This is a film about the everyday life and pain of refugees, about the search for small details that give strength to live and about adults who are tired of war. It is a self-reflection of refugees who believe that they will soon return home, without a clear understanding of when this will be possible and what awaits them there.

Experimental short film shows one of the performances of the Orchid Theater under the direction of Mykhailo Koptev, a marginal trash designer from Luhansk. The maestro affirms another status of the artist: there is no client, no mentor, only the art for its sake.

Rescued by a combat medic after a severe injury on the frontline, a Ukrainian soldier undergoes rehabilitation, confronting physical and emotional challenges on his path back to civilian life, driven by a single wish: to return home.

In the frontline zone of Ukraine, children have their school lessons in a small improvised classroom – a rural hut. The teacher, along with the parents, organize a Saint Nicholas Day celebration for them, bringing the children faith in miracles, even here, where every day is a challenge and a trial.

Residents of the village come to see the dilapidated house in Borodyanka, which is being demolished. We will soon hear their stories. They are all different, but they share a sense of loss. Someone lost a pet, someone lost an apartment, and someone lost a child. Meanwhile, the demolition of the house at number 359 is coming to an end. Our heroes are still watching, hoping that something new will be built in place of the ruins.
