Jiban Trishna

Shibnath is released from prison after serving eleven years for assaulting a British officer. His family has now become refugees, with his homeland, following Partition, belonging to a new nation. His wife urges him to make ally with his friend Bipin who is willing to capitalize on Shibnath's legendary reputation for patriotism, by asking to accompany him in electoral campaigns. In exchange, Bipin is ready to arrange Shibnath the job of a school master. However, Shibnath remains disillusioned and mystified by the life that now lies before him away from his beloved—and irretrievably lost—homeland.

This story concerns an honest police officer Amit Sen and his wife Seema. Seema has to kill a smuggler, Changez in self-defence, but she cannot tell anything to Amit. Changez's boss Shamsher Singh harasses her for the diamonds that Changez has accidentally dropped in her house, but she has no clue about. In due course, Seema is arrested. Finally, Amit catches Shamsher Singh and proves Seema's innocence in court.
Sangini

Shipra is a poor woman who is molested and killed as she witnesses corruption. The police and lawyer Somnath take up the case and slowly dig into it. He traces the corrupted policeman and comes to know that Karuna, the head lady of the orphanage where Shipra used to live is equally involved in female trafficking. However, when he sees Karuna his world is turned upside down. Karuna is Shukla, Somnath’s long-lost wife. Circumstances had led her to become a puppet in the hands of the gangsters. However, she is to keep mum about the entire conspiracy, lest they kill her only daughter. Somnath gives assurance to Karuna to speak the truth. She does that and, in the end, the entire gangster network is caught. Karuna’s daughter is proved to be Somnath’s daughter. They get together again.
