Biography
Charlotte Button is a 25 year old filmmaker from Luton, and a recent graduate of MetFilm School Brighton. Her first short film 'Dressing Room' (2024) is currently on its festival run, having screened as part of the official selections for CINECITY's "New Voices Programme" 2024 & Crossing the Screen Eastbourne International Film Festival's "Sussex Made" 2025. Like her first short, Charlotte's grad film, 'Be Aggressive!' (2025) showcases her unique perspective on feminist topics, such as internalised misogyny. Inspired by the iconic chick-flicks of the 90s & 00s, this 14 minute film explores the common tropes surrounding teenage girls through Button's dark sense of humour. "Film is a culmination of my creative interests; storytelling; music; visual art; performance; writing; design. Finding ways to connect stories, characters and intriguing visuals has come to me naturally since I began practising in theatre, and is a skill I take pride in. It is intuitive to me, much more than anything mathematical or scientific. I just want to work with talented people, to make cool looking films that mean something."
Known For

'Dressing Room' follows Margot, a burlesque dancer in the 1980s, struggling with the mounting pressure of being a woman performer. Due to looming realities she's facing in her personal life, as well as an unfavourable view of herself in comparison to her fellow dancer Penny, Margot worries about the future of her career. This short is where the male gaze, body image, womanhood, and the spotlight all come to a head.
