A rugged stranger, at a crossroads in his life, checks into an unassuming bed and breakfast hotel in a seaside town. Although initially disturbed by the peculiar mannerisms of its owner, the theatrical and mischievous Mr. Sands, he decides to spend the night. That night, a strange shape-shifting creature, known as The Manitou, creeps towards the strangers room, before transporting him to a parallel dimension.

On his morning route, a milkman named Spike Milligan leaves various "surprises" in the milk bottles for his customers to find, including poisonous liquids, deadly gas, and venomous spiders.
