Triumph in the Skies is about the daily lives of the staff, working under Solar Airways (a fictional airline based on Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific). It has been compared to the now-cancelled NBC series LAX. It sparked an interest in aviation when first aired amongst Hong Kong viewers, as well as an interest in a small doll named "Triangel" featured early on in the series.

When Yip Chi-Yan, Lau Chun-Hung, Sung Yee-Long, and Cheng Chun-Hin are brought together again by an accident, their lives change irreversibly. Chi-Yan is a radio host. She and the other three were members of the same band eighteen years ago. The memory of them playing music together comes back vividly to them, and so does the pain they have all tried so hard to bury. Eighteen years ago her boyfriend, Ka-Ming, was killed in a hiking accident. Time flies, but she can never forgive Chun-Hung, Yee-Long, and Chun-Hin for failing to save Ka-Ming. As they reconnect, the four good friends and the people around them are drawn into a vortex of love they have no control over.

Nightingale Wong is a super heroine who looses her memory when her triad boss father is murdered. She is taken in by a kindly prostitute, and eventually takes revenge.

The newlyweds Jack and Ching move into a new apartment. Jack gets smacked by a car and goes into a coma, but a miraculous recovery occurs. Jack begins having visions of death around the house and he finds Ching has begun to act strangely. Jack relays his suspicions to Ching, but she thinks he might be "troubled". September, an female friend of Jack's, joins him on a fact-finding hunt. What they find isn't too comforting, as it seems that Ching may have more than a few secrets from her new husband
