In 1897, Finnish brothers Pietari and Verner Korpi head to the harsh frontier of Minnesota in search of their missing father.

Mira is released from prison and returns to her hometown, where she lives with her alcoholic father in a mobile home. After settling in, Mira finds herself caught up in underworld disputes and money troubles. At the same time, she is forced to confront her own past. Meanwhile, a shady private investigator and his partner try to make a living by questionable means.
