Mathematics goes far beyond numbers and equations. Mathematics is ideas. The philosopher and mathematician Poincaré, for example, said that mathematics is the art of giving the same name to different things. Mathematics is the science of patterns. It happens whenever there is a pattern. Whenever something repeats itself... in your daily life, on the streets, in traffic... These are ideas that materialize in all the objects you have ever observed... and perhaps never noticed. Mathematics is life. Your life... and mine. I'm Rogério Martins... and I'm a mathematician.

Oração is a song-film where two musicians and a dancer elaborate the relationship between Afro-Brazilian diasporic memory and popular song. Based on a reference to collage and beat, the film develops strategies for inventing the memory of bodies historically deprived of their history and their affections. A proposal for the present and also for the future, a request, a thank you. The voice, the song, as a place of sharing, healing and singing: a prayer.
