Biography
Outonno Selva is a graduating filmmaker based in Cachoeira and currently an exchange student at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) in Austria, Outonno hails from Uberaba, Minas Gerais. They explore audiovisual experimentation, focusing on creating new narrative possibilities and abstract formats. Currently pursuing a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual Studies at UFRB, where they are part of the Group for Photographic Analysis and Practices, Outonno researches themes such as identity, memory, and social transformation. Their notable works include Angústia (2022), Cavar Silêncios (2022), Gente em 3 Atos (2023), Gente Boa (2024), Em Torno do Barro (2024), Por Nós, um Ensaio (2024), and the recent Segredos, Choros, Saudades e Negronis (2024), which have been showcased in festivals, national exhibitions, and the Biennial of Coimbra. Their body of work is driven by the deconstruction of colonial conventions, integrating elements of Cuirbeirinho culture with a disruptive perspective.
