Weng Liangping

Set in 1928, it tells the story of Wei Ruolai and his determination to courageously pursue his strong aspirations in serving his country. He regarded Shen Tunan, a senior adviser, as his mentor when he was a low-level employee at a financial institution. Through the excellence of his memory and data analysis ability, Wei Ruolai has been favored by Shen Tunan. However, his line of work made him witness the blatant corruption and darkness in the financial field unleashed by the Kuomintang with his own eyes.

In Shenzhen, a jobless Lu Da rekindles hope in a 24-hour bookstore; opera star Fan becomes a tech sales whiz in Huaqiangbei; delivery rider Tan earns dignity; drone engineers Zhang Yi and Nuan build love with code; teen Xiao Peng creates a wildlife overpass; planner Wang Pengqian and daughter protect mangroves, with spoonbill Y075 marking eco-change. These stories weave entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability, showcasing Shenzhen’s 45-year transformation and future promise.

Between 1921 and 1927, several significant events unfolded: the Communist Party of China held its First National Congress, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party formed their first collaboration, anti-imperialist and patriotic movements erupted, and the First National Revolution ultimately failed.

In 1943 Shanghai, an explosion leads to a showdown between Communist undercover agent Lu Zhengyang and former police officer Lin Shaobai. Six years later, Lu Zhengyang, now a key member of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, recruits Lin Shaobai, the "Shanghai Expert," to tackle major cases and thwart the plots of veteran spy Zheng Lanting. As they work together, Lu Zhengyang and Lin Shaobai build trust and become close comrades.

A contemporary firefighter travels back to Republican-era Chongqing and joins a volunteer brigade to search for a historical firefighter who perished in the Chongqing Bombing, aided by a local firefighter.
