Dramatic events unfold in Croatia and Ukraine. The first girl drowned, the second one died from a drug overdose. While detective Vladimir and reporter Stribor struggle to solve these murders in Croatia, the niece of Olga, an Ukrainian philanthropist, goes missing in Kyiv.

Danko Babic is an ambitious and amoral gynaecologist at Croatia's leading fertility clinic. When his colleague Bantic is appointed as head of the clinic, Babic starts a secret war to overthrow his rival. Distracted by his ruthless campaign he makes series of fatal mistakes that result in the death of a patient. A crooked coroner and a corrupt police officer cover up his misdeeds, while Babic grows increasingly dependant on drugs and alcohol. He begins performing illegal abortions on prostitutes who work for Jedinko, a gangster who controls the local drug and sex trade.
As an escape from his early mid-life crisis and wrecked marriage a Bosnian man puts the fate of his life in the hand of his new lady-friend: his GPS. As the GPS leads him to unknown places he embarks on a more and more personal relationship with her.

In order to keep up with the newly appointed laws regarding the urbanization of rural areas, the national goverment constructs a concrete titan they call Block 62, in the middle of a previously uninhabited field, adveritizing it to potential newcomers as an utopistic home of the future. Things seem to be going fairly well until one of the tenants, Milan, a war veteran and an agent for the Yugoslav Secret Service, commits suicide, seemingly not of his own accord. Fearing what this could mean for the security of the state, the Secret Service sends in another agent, Ivan, to move into the housing block undercover, alongside his pregnant wife Milica, and report on any suspicious activity he comes across. Upon their arrival, the unexplained deaths and suicides begin piling up more and more, and one of the tenants, a sickly 12-year-old named Ana, starts exhibiting strange symptoms and seemingly supernatural abbilites.
