It's the early 1950s and Sparvöga's father has lost his job and is suffering from tuberculosis. The whole family is forced to move back in with his parents but for Sparvöga this is the beginning of a great adventure.

1830 Värmland, Sweden. Master Karl Arthur Ekenstedt comes to aid the Minister at Crosss Church. He falls in love with Charlotte Löwensköld, housekeeper in the rectory. They get engaged. Charlotte is full of life, energetic and practical. Karl Arthur struggle with his faith and God.

A woman is diagnosed with MS, the same disease that killed her father. Years later she tells her grandchild how she learned to live with it.
