Biography
Joshua Matthew is an Indonesian-born writer and director based in London, Ontario. Having lived in the aforementioned country of Indonesia, as well as Singapore and Canada, his films often reflect themes of cultural displacement and identity. In 2024, his debut short film, Do You Fit In With The West: A Poetry (2024), was screened at the Forest City Film Festival, exhibited at Museum London, and won Best Short Film at the Western Undergraduate Film Society's film festival, hosted at the University of Western Ontario. His third short, Bouche Sèche (2025), was the runner-up at the same festival the following year. In 2025, he co-founded the production company MenWhoSold alongside fellow filmmaker Jorin Liu.
