While others closed their doors in 2020, Light of Life Rescue Mission made the promise to not only stay open, but also broaden their care for the homeless, addicted and abused throughout the Pittsburgh area. In that time, their relationships and community partners found new ways to ensure the safety of the region's most vulnerable and neglected. As the pandemic took its toll on the city, it only amplified issues that were already affecting our community. An opioid epidemic was already raging, killing thousands each year.

The face of homelessness and addiction has changed markedly in the past five years; no longer is it someone you don't know. They are your neighbor's son or daughter, your nephew or niece, your best friend or partner and they are dying at a rapid rate. Watch as we reveal the story of life as someone who lives in the eye of the needle.
