A stay-at-home mom and avid reader of crime stories discovers the deepest secrets of a small town's residents while investigating a woman's murder.

In Poland, out of ten debtors obliged to pay alimony, only two pay it in full. While preparing to stage a court scene with his mother, the director meets people who, like him, never received child support despite being awarded alimony. He uses this situation to tell the stories of these people in his film.

Filip is a middle-aged man. He works as a professional film extra, and his specialty is the roles of dead bodies. On the set of a historical film, he meets Łucja, who plays the role of a dead woman.
