Six friends from different ethnic backgrounds search for their way into adulthood in Berlin between traditions, their parental homes and everyday life in Germany. In six episodes, the series tells the inspiring stories of a group of friends who grew up in Berlin in second generation. Coumba, Ani, Zehra, Jamila, Mo and Nikki are in their early 20s and deal with a variety of questions: How can I help my parents when they visit the authorities? Is my origin the only reason why my partner is interested in me? As a daughter of a conservative, traditional family, how can I tell them that I love women? Do I have to go to university in order to make my family proud? Who am I really, and who do I want to be? Together, they struggle to find their place in society while pursuing their own dreams, reflecting on their identity and confronting the profound questions of life.

In conversations with her parents Yıldız and Mustafa as well as her brothers Taner and Onur, she goes on a painful journey into the past. Political persecution of the Alevi-Kurdish family in Turkey, the flight to Europe in 1989, several racist attacks, depression and excessive demands on the parents – the effects on the three siblings are different. Dealing with the experiences and strokes of fate causes different reactions in them. Bektaş quickly realizes that the uncertainty about Taner’s fate in Turkey is only a reflection of her life experience as a family in exile.

Berlin-Kreuzberg. Kenan's big day has arrived. The nine-year-old half-orphan is to be circumcised, following the millennia-old Muslim tradition. But before that, there is a party! During the party, which Kenan's father Ibrahim organises more for his own father than for his son, Kenan and Ibrahim are confronted with archaic traditions and the question: What does it actually mean to be a man?
