In Portobelo, two friends go to a Congo dance and witness an invasion of demons, while Panama is invaded by Americans troops in 1989: this turns into an account of what happened in the cities of Colón and Panamá.
Sonia, now living in Los Angeles, is confronted by her memories of Honduras from when she was a child prior to arriving in the United States. As she navigates through her daily life, she discovers that home and memory are around every corner, every local store, even daily texts, despite family and sending country being thousands of miles away.
