Operating a Television Network from Vancouver, Sardar Jasbir Singh Grewal, arranges the marriage of his only child, Simar, with Mulhapur-based, Inder Veer Singh, the son of his friend, Arjun, much to the chagrin of his snobbish wife, Kuldip. Simar and Inder find themselves compatible, and an engagement ceremony is arranged. It is during this event that they find out that Inder has no intention of re-locating to Canada, and the ceremony is canceled. After sometime, Inder decides to visit the Grewals in order to try and convince Simar to return to India, and also visit his married sister, who he has not seen for over 7 years, as well as a former girlfriend, Jaspreet, who also live in Vancouver. Once there, he witnesses the plight of his sister, Jaspreet, and other Punjabis, making him question whether Canada is really the perceived 'heaven on Earth'; what C.B.C.D. really means; little knowing Simar has no intention of ever settling down in India.

Once upon a time in a village a dacoit named Daku Mangal Singh (Ranjeet) harasses the villagers for lagaan, When Inspector-in-charge Vijay (Girish Karnad) gets transferred to that village he encounters Daku Mangal Singh (Ranjeet) and makes a plan to set the village free of the menace. This story is about five criminals who were taken by the inspector-in-charge Vijay for help to the village. Inspector Vijay take those criminals at his own risk as the higher authority denies his approval. Daku Mangal Singh also exploits women in the village. Does Vijay succeed in his mission.

Jaswant lives a middle-class lifestyle with his sister, Laddhu, and widowed mom in a village in Punjab, India. He is friendly with Thanedar Kishanchand and is aware that both Laddhu and Kishanchand are attracted to each other. He discusses this alliance with Kishanchand, and with his approval, arranges their engagement and also prepares himself to propose marriage to his sweetheart, Shammu, who lives with two brothers, Dharmu and Teju, and Dharmu's wife. The village they live in has an annual Kabootar (pigeon) competition. Jaswant wins, but his competitor, Tarhu, is angered, provokes him by shooting his Kabootar dead and has his friend, a corrupt Thanedar, Succha Singh, arrest Jaswant, take him to the Police Station and beat him up severely. When Succha finally lets go of Jaswant, Tarhu and his dad, Jhaildhara, are unhappy.

Nihal Singh is a young man from a village in Nabha, who in an attempt to get rid of an unwanted marriage proposal, ends up lying to his entire village that he loves somebody named 'Jasneet Kaur' (Surveen Chawla) from Vancouver. In reality, Jasneet is a girl, who Nihal and his friend and partner in crime, Taari (Binnu Dhillon) find on the web and keep a picture of her to show as proof to the village. Coaxed by his mother and a nagging village 'Taayi', Nihal Singh sets out for Canada to stay with Taari's Chacha (B.N. Sharma) and get his help in finding the whereabouts of Jasneet. Mahaul Theek Hai (meaning 'the situation is okay') is a comedy satire about the police force in India. The plot involves a romance between the hero (Smeep Kang) and heroine (Chandni Toor). The hero's brother (Raj Babbar) is involved with an illegal businessman. Played by director and satirist Jaspal Bhatti, the villain of the film is a corrupt SSP (police superintendent) who misuses his authority to threaten people and hide his own excesses. His love interest is played by Bhatti's real life wife (Savita Bhatti).
