Paul Birch and William Campbell portrayed the main characters, with Canadian actors Beth Lockerbie, Beth Morris, Steve Barringer, Howard Milsom, and others in supporting roles.

Anne Shirley, an orphan is housed with Matthew Cuthbert and sister Marilla. They were expecting a boy to help with the chores, but got Anne.
