A philandering wife and a sleazy womanizing con-man team up to off a troublesome father-in-law in this acid-tinged French Canadian black comedy. Leon, the con-artist makes his living cheating Catholic bingo players by hosting bogus religious pilgrimages. He is involved with a woman, but that doesn't stop him from getting involved with the frustrated Sophie who hates living in a tiny apartment with her lazy husband, her ever-gloomy teenage daughter and her husband's demanding, self-centered father, Emile. Sophie is so desperate to escape and start a new life that she convinces Leon to help her kill Emile who allegedly has $150,000 tucked away. The murder is to occur during one of Leon's pilgrimages. He convinces his son Paolo, an ex-con, to assist. Despite their careful planning, nothing prepares the would-be killers for the surprising result.

When double subjectivity strikes, tension is created between form and matter, intellect and feeling. The terrible threat of formlessness hovers. Life as seen through an artist’s eyes.

For this small action movie I hired two hundred extras to dance with me in Paris. I'm not a dancer but dancing in Paris is easy.

"I capture little chosen moments. I snatch them from the subject and the subject is me. I speak in an off-hand manner. I catch floating moments on a nice body of water. My work has something specific about it : it suits me. I can sing, waddle about, and say things. A woman sitting any place is already something. It's usually elegant if you don't mind crossing your legs. Mine are crossed."

Sylvie Laliberté shares this. ​“I produce my auteur films at home: I talk a lot, so it’s also an action movie. I sing a song by the great Quebec star La Bolduc, which makes it a bit of a musical. A few family memories follow, because in the end, it’s mostly a spy movie, since I’m a double agent: half-Italian, half-Quebecer. Happiness is a tautological state. Why is one happy? Because he or she is happy. It’s very simple. And it smells good. Still happy than one can be happy. This video was produced for Manif d’art 2003 in Québec focussing on happiness and its representation.

Here is a video very tourist, kind of Sylvie in Paris. Tourists are people very concerned about themselves and lookind to improve their personnality by travelling. Paris indeed helped me to improve myself.

The Festival du Nouveau Cinéma of Montreal, in its 37th year, invited me to make three little video sequences in different locations in the city : a subway station, the Grande Bibliothèque and the FNC Lab. "The cinema" was the obligatory subject. I could not use any sound, because they did not want my work to disturb people. They also told me we live in a world with far too many images already. So for sure, I added more. Made in collaboration with Vidéographe, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec and the Société de transport de Montréal.
