Biography
Wale is a Nigerian writer-director based in Hampshire, UK. His award-winning films have screened at over 20 international festivals, including Academy Award, BAFTA, and BIFA qualifying events. Wale’s 2024 short film Yam and Egg premiered at the Crystal Palace International Film Festival, while his debut short Overcomer premiered at the Seattle Black Film Festival and has since been selected by multiple festivals, including the prestigious Palm Springs ShortFest. His latest project, Love, Dad, stars BAFTA-nominated actor Cyril Nri and continues Wale’s focus on intimate, character-driven narratives. In addition to directing, Wale produced the 2023 Netflix original series Ololade, which debuted at #1 on Netflix Nigeria and ranked in the top 10 across 12 countries. He is also a co-founder of Helium Films, a production company dedicated to supporting emerging voices. He is currently developing his debut feature film.
