The stories of 'Procholito' are often heard while walking, sometimes read, and deeply embedded in the minds since childhood. 'Procholito' reflects the art of enveloping these ideas in the contemporary cloak, creating a timeless allure.

At the heart of the story are Shojon and Duli, two adolescents from different religious backgrounds. They grow up together as childhood companions and close friends. However, their tender relationship eventually turns into one of separation and sorrow. Conflict erupts in the village, and its tragic consequences fall heavily upon Shojon and Duli.

Set in 16th century Eastern Bengal, the film is inspired by the life of Chandrabati, Bengal`s first feminist poet. The story follows her falling in love with another poet, Jayananda, who later leaves her for another woman. The betrayal pushes Chandrabati to renounce marriage, confine herself inside a Shiva temple and start rewriting the Ramayana - an act which eventually led to her becoming a historic figure.
