New Town documents the progression of this iconic new town through the memory of Mike Kernan, an author who has written novels set in a fictional version of the town, showcasing how unique it was to grown up in Cumbernauld during the 60's & 70's. Originally created to accommodate the Glasgow overspill, Cumbernauld was built using pioneering architecture for its time, especially the town centre, which was the UK's first shopping centre and the world’s first fully enclosed town centre and it will soon be demolished. This film hopes to explore how the environment of this iconic new town has changed and how its defined the generations who grew up there. We'd really appreciate any support you're willing to give to make this film the best it can be.
