In late 1940s Italy, a mother makes the difficult decision to send her son to the north, where he catches glimpses of a new life away from poverty.
Over the past year, seven Neapolitan writers known as ‘I Nisidiani’ (Viola Ardone, Riccardo Brun, Maurizio de Giovanni, Daniela De Crescenzo, Antonio Menna, Valeria Parrella and Patrizia Rinaldi) have written a novel as part of a prison-based writing workshop which, amongst other things, changes both the authors and the young prisoners forever.
