Biography
Margarida Paiva is a visual artist living in Oslo working with film and photography. In 2007, Paiva completed her Master degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (NO), and has earlier studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto (PT). Her films have been shown widely in exhibitions and have been awarded in international festivals. For many years her work related to stories of trauma and memory. These stories emerge in poetic narratives defined by an existential solitude. Recent work is the result of a personal exploration into the mystical and spiritual dimension of the natural world, inspired by folklore, old fairy tales and myths where Nature is associated with psychological states and the subconscious. Using references to ecofeminism, these projects aim to reflect on the coexistence between human existence and the environment. Moreover, they explore the depths of our inner selves and the hidden aspects of our connection to Nature.
