The Upper Hand is a British television sitcom, produced by Central Independent Television and Columbia Pictures Television and broadcast by ITV from 1990 to 1996. The programme was adapted from the American sitcom Who's the Boss?. As in the former series, an affluent single woman, raising a son with the help of her mother, hires a housekeeper only to have a man apply for the job.

Alison is a young, attractive advertising executive. Even though she has a stable relationship with a boyfriend, she is still searching for the man she can fall totally in love with. She begins a passionate affair with Jake, a male stripper, who she's signed on as a model for a new account. But Jake is married to a beautiful Vietnamese woman who he refuses to leave. Each one must make their choice. Their decision will affect everyone.
