Biography
Cristina Neves is a young Brazilian film director, editor, and producer. Raised in the state of Piauí, she moved to São Paulo to study film at the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2024, she traveled to China to shoot “Mother River 面纱之河” through the Looking China Project. She also received the award for best short documentary for "Memories and Love Letters For Sale” in Moscow, Russia, at the VGIK Festival. Her films often portray everyday life, but with a touch of fantasy and absurdism.

A Certain Crave For Violence

Hammurabi tells the story of Vitão, a boy who works as a delivery boy. Outraged by the poor working conditions, Vitão decides to steal one of the deliveries from the Arab restaurant Hammurabi. This seemingly simple robbery triggers a chain reaction when a dealer receives a message to fetch packages of drugs from the same building as Vitão. Due to a simple typo, the dealer ends up going to Vitão’s apartment and putting the boy in the middle of a much bigger mess than he could have imagined.
