Responding to the inaugural release of Playboy magazine, two African-American entrepreneurial hopefuls set out to do an all-black version of the same, pitching Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Pearl Bailey and Eartha Kitt to grace the cover.

An unflattering portrait of Ester Breen is unveiled. Walter, Ester's husband, is pleased with the horror of the guests' responses. Peter, Ester's boyfriend, just wants Ester to leave her husband to be with him. Bluster, the painter, is unhappy he is not revered as an artist. Jonathan Heck, art critic for the city paper, is under pressure to complete a review of the new portrait. No one is happy, someone is going to die. Everyone is enraged, fearful and in love.

A satirical and fictional look at a 1950’s all black variety show and its controversial gay host Cherry Cola Pitts. Set in 1956, the show is threatening to overtake “I Love Lucy” in the TV ratings but faces backlash because of its flamboyant host as he battles to keep his show atop the ratings all while facing demons from his past and threats from inside his own network to bring him down.
