Harry Gerstad was an American film editor and director, celebrated for his work on several classic films. He began his career in the 1930s, working as an assistant editor before becoming a full editor. Gerstad won two Academy Awards for Best Film Editing for Champion (1949) and High Noon (1952). His editing was noted for its precision and ability to enhance narrative tension. In the 1960s, Gerstad transitioned to television, directing episodes of series such as The Adventures of Superman. His contributions to both film and television showcased his versatility and dedication to the craft of editing and directing.
