A folkloric and popular character of the June festivities in Teresina, Gorete Canivete lives with the conflict between He and She in the popular market where she works. Black, poor and semi-literate, Gregorio or Gorete, is 59 years old, and reflects on prejudice and happiness, while preparing to celebrate his birthday among his coworkers, who welcome him regardless of his gender.

Kassandra is a young trans woman who finds in funeral makeup a way to live out her art. One day, she comes across her brother’s body on a stretcher and has the chance to confront her father and mother’s prejudice during the wake.
