The 6 Guarani villages of Jaraguá, in São Paulo, fight for land rights, for human rights and for the preservation of nature. They suffer from the proximity to the city, which brings lack of resources, pollution of rivers and springs, racism, police violence, fires, lack of infrastructure and sanitation, among others. Unable to live like their ancestors, their millenary culture is lost as it merges with the urban culture.

Based on the universe of three indigenous peoples pressured by the destruction caused by mining, the film proposes an approach to the thought of the Yanomami, Munduruku and MebĂŞngĂ´kre (KayapĂł), in the formation of a historical alliance in defense of territories. It is, therefore, a narrative about resistance and resilience, in the figure of an unprecedented union that establishes the maintenance of their physical and subjective territories. Beyond the destruction caused by mining, this is a film about the impossibility of separation between indigenous existence and their territory.

Davi Kopenawa, a Yanomami shaman and one of Brazil’s leading Indigenous voices, confronts the threat of large mining companies encroaching on his Amazon territory. We follow him on a journey to Brumadinho, where he encounters the aftermath of the Brumadinho dam disaster. Between the earthly and the spiritual realms, his path intersects with the maxita watimapë—the “earth eaters” — and leads him to reunite with his longtime ally Ailton Krenak.
