Finalists, semi-finals, and finals of the competition to determine the "Kaiou," the most powerful ghost storyteller who tells the scariest ghost stories. The 10 winners of the preliminary rounds held in Tokyo and Osaka, including Tanishi Matsubara, Ami, and Daizo Miki, as well as the seeded player, Kinzo Sakura, tell ghost stories under the watchful eye of Junji Inagawa, the chief advisor of the competition.

The eight winners of the preliminary round will advance to the main competition, where ghost story legend Junji Inagawa awaits them. In the main competition, in addition to the eight qualifiers, two more seeds will participate: a finalist round to determine the four semi-finalists from the 10 ghost storytellers, a semi-finalist round to determine the two finalists, and the winner of the final two ghost storytellers will be crowned the 2018 "Kaiou" Ghost Storyteller of the Year.
