Biography
Simon Ljungman, born 10 September 1979 in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a Swedish musician, guitarist, singer, songwriter, conductor, and bandleader. He is best known as a longtime member of Håkan Hellström’s band since 2008 and as a key figure in the ensemble Augustifamiljen, which served as the house band on the popular Swedish TV show På Spåret. Ljungman grew up in Tumleberg outside Vara, Sweden, and his musical career has spanned rock, pop, jazz, and choral music. In addition to his work with Hellström and Augustifamiljen, he is a founding member of the band SeLest, for which he is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, and has performed notable cross‑genre projects like a reinterpretation of Mozart’s Requiem at Vara Konserthus. He has also been Artist in Residence and later artistic development director at Vara Konserthus, where he created concert series and collaborations with artists across genres, and he continues to perform both his own material and collaborative works.

In early June 2016, Håkan Hellström returned to Ullevi in Gothenburg for two triumphant sold-out concerts. Filmed in front of an audience of around 70,000 people, capturing the atmosphere, emotion, and euphoria of those two unforgettable nights, featuring guest appearances by Sven-Bertil Taube, Miriam Bryant, Daniel Gilbert, Joakim Thåström, and Seinabo Sey.
