Tawfeeq El Asha

Created and starring the legendary Yasser Al Azmeh, Maraya ran for 20 seasons from 1982 to 2013 — making it one of the longest-running comedy series in Arab television history. Each episode presents standalone stories skewering the social, political and economic frustrations of everyday Arab life with sharp wit and biting satire. A mirror held up to an entire society, it entered homes across the Arab world for three decades and never stopped being relevant.

A strict father refuses to let his beautiful daughter marry the young pilot she loves, believing that the life of a pilot is filled with danger. The pilot sees a dead end, but that does not prevent him from using his cunning to persuade his beloved's father of their marriage.

Based on one of the most famous novels by Syrian novelist Khairy Al-Zahabi, the film tells the story of a woman from a Syrian family who is married but always treated badly by her husband, and is good at embroidery.
