Washed-up television personality Blake de Troy is rescued after a car crash by his devoted fan, Antoinette Funk, who lives in the Florida Everglades. Believing he has been kidnapped, Blake initially tries to escape, but after the death of his life partner and manager, Jimmy, he realizes he has nowhere else to go and begins exploiting the situation as a potential publicity stunt. Their increasingly dysfunctional arrangement spirals into a dark comedy about celebrity, loneliness, obsession, and fandom.
