Ana, a young filipina filmmaker, shoots a re-enactment of a fight she once had with her mother - a fight brought on by mutual refusals to communicate. Echoing the cultural pressure from her mother to work beyond her natural limits, Ana rewrites every single insult into a chance for forgiveness. As the story of her film diverges further and further from the memory of what happened, she questions whether her creative additions amount to yet another repression of the truth.

It’s 2008, and one high school grad is out for revenge. A year after a mysterious tragedy in a small town, friends reunite and party. Haunted by their reputations, one by one they’ll all get what’s coming for them. Whether it kills them or not.

Using poetry, interviews with psychologists and survivors, and corporeal imagery, Broca is an experimental documentary hybrid that explores how the mind-body connection is altered after trauma. The Broca’s Area in the brain is involved primarily in speech production. During a traumatic event or when trying to recall a traumatic event, this area shuts down. This makes it harder for a survivor to talk about what’s happened. Our project is an experimental documentary hybrid that offers a platform for survivors to tell their stories both verbally and non-verbally.
