Biography
Director and Screenwriter, graduated in visual arts and disciplines for the show - scenography and as an Actor at the International Academy of Theater in Rome. Active in the world of theater for 25 years, an expert and attentive professional in his work that has led to the completion of his personal method: The CARPA method, an acting coaching method based on the technique of breathing and rhythm. In the world of cinema he debuted in 2016 with the short film "Onora la madre", after a series of short films, short documentaries and video clips, in 2023 he directed his first work: the feature film "Il Vuoto" which definitively consecrated him to the world of independent auteur cinema.

Giorgio and Marco come from two different worlds: the first is the son of an accomplished lawyer, the second is the son of a farmer. Both guys fight to emancipate themselves from the outskirts of a southern city. They dream of an overwhelming love and, above all, for different reasons, they are burning with the desire to emerge. The force that attracted them, it will force them to fight to be together. The "Empty" that pushes them towards each other will bring Giorgio and Marco chasing each other, walking on the balance of the emptiness that attracts them: two boys and an unexpected love.

“Onora la Madre” focuses on the role that women played in the 'Ndrangheta, because their presence in Mafia contexts has always been underestimated whereas today has slowly surfaced again. The short explores the manifold and contradictory 'Ndrangheta female universe in Calabria. It explains - starting from reports, documents, traditions, rituals, testimonies, words and judicial documents, the 'Ndrangheta telling the stories and the figures of women that inevitably settle and serve calabrian clans. Everything starts with a quite enlightening syllogism: family is the core element of the 'Ndrangheta, woman is the core element of the family, woman is the core element of the 'Ndrangheta. Analyzing the real universe of the 'Ndrangheta’s mechanisms we realize the real role of women, often extremely important even if destined never to be formally recognized by the organization.

A heartless brother, a cruel sheriff, 8 minutes of short film and almost 9000 drawings handmade by the talented Stefano Pullano. The story of Valerio Scanu, taken from the book "The secrets of Santa Claus' kingdom", becomes an animated short, the result of a long and meticulous artistic work, directed by Giovanni Carpanzano.
