Close to bankruptcy, Irena, the owner of a struggling pig farm in a tiny post-Communist town, finds a surprising benefactor in a handsome American man who appears to be the answer to all her prayers.

The pedantic Mr. Atanasoff is constantly irritated by the careless bouzouki playing of the bohemian foreigner living upstairs. He gloats with happiness when the musician loses his beloved instrument, but soon his attitude is about to take an unexpected turn.

Three young couples, who live almost like one family, are isolated from the external world. They are on the edge of breaking their relationship. Nobody is happy with this, but nobody tries to change anything.
