"First Role" is a live action - documentary about two carefree high school students from a small town in Serbia who are rehearsing for their first performance in a school play. This will turn out to be the defining moment for both of them and kick-start the career of one of the biggest names in Yugoslavian film.

During interrogation, the captured young man admits to setting all of the village's wheat supplies on fire. Fully aware that his punishment will be death, he proceeds to give reasons for his act, and those reasons will make everyone in the room question themselves.
