In the distant mountains, in a Serbian village, the occupiers are robbing the population and shooting the rebels. The villagers flee into the forest and form a partisan detachment. The detachment mines the road so that the punitive detachment cannot reach the village. But the partisans do not have Bickford's belt. The bomber faces inevitable death. The film depicts the life of a Georgian village after the Second World War. Kesou Mirba, appointed as a brigadier in Saken, wants to get a bountiful harvest of corn on the scarce land of the highland village, he is sure that valuable mineral fertilizer will be found there. Kesou's plans are opposed by farmers who do not want to change their old way of life. One of them will replace the soil samples to be sent to the laboratory.

The film tells the story of a country rebuilding itself after World War II. In a lively socialist competition between two collective farms, two lovers, Bidzina and Eteri, are actively involved. Bidzina has brought home the son of a fallen comrade from the front, whom Eteri mistakenly believes to be Bidzina's child. This temporary misunderstanding leads to a series of comedic situations.

The old man Leki Amzat lives with his grandchildren, Ajar and Ramazan. Ramazan is a tractor driver. Their friend, Jangir, a Komsomol member, visits the young people. This does not please the merchant Mirza, who wants to marry Ajar. From the warehouse manager of the Soviet farm, Bigai, he learns that Jangir is the son of the murderer of Ramazan's father and informs Amzat and Ramazan of this. The old man demands a blood test. Ramazan makes a decision, but when he meets face to face, he refuses his intention. Then Amzat asks Mirza to kill Jangir. Ajar, who loves Ramazan, tries to warn him. Mirza runs into the girl and arrests her. Ramazan and Jangir come to the rescue and capture Mirza. The wounded Ajar is taken to the hospital. Eventually, the second villain, Bigai, is exposed, who turns out to be a former Bokauli.
