Biography
Wesley Versteeg was born in 1992, Westvoorne, the Netherlands to parents, Mike Versteeg and Marijke Versteeg. At an age of thirteen, Wesley started to edit video game movies. And after a few years (age seventeen) he had a decent amount editing practice and decided to do his final assignment (during his pre-university education) on video editing. In this time, he also started making his own short movies. From that moment on, Wesley was sure that making films was his dream. At the age of eighteen, when he was done with his pre-university education, he went to the film school Narafi in Brussel, Belgium. Wesley decided to study abroad because Narafi has a lot of practical assignments, and does not specialize in the first year. After his first year at Narafi, and making his first short film: "Reunion", he switched from wanting to be an editor, to being a director and cinematographer. In the second year Wesley made his second short film: "Lights Out", and went to Sicily, Italy for a two week Arri Alexa workshop.

In the near future, where overpopulation has become a serious problem, a highly funded organization launches a project to move people to an earth-like planet called 'Hemera'. Only the wealthy can afford a ticket, causing a lot of rage and attacks by those left behind. Malcolm, lead designer of the ship that will take the passengers to 'Hemera', is allowed to invite his wife to board the ship, but attacks on the project become more frequent.
Hemera

Lights out tells the story of a couple that just broke up. Sarah is mad at Thomas and steals his car, hitting him with a crowbar in the proces. As retaliation Thomas buries Sarah alive in the car. Sarah is panicking in the car, and doesn't know what to do. Then she hears something outside, it's Thomas. Realizing that she (Sarah) is not really buried, she puts the seatbelt around her neck to make it look as if she has committed suicide. When Thomas accidentally made a noise, he goes to check out the car, thinking Sarah must have heard. But when he sees that Sarah committed suicide, he rushes to call 911. When Thomas is busy calling, Sarah makes her move, and slips trough Thomas's fingers for the second and last time.
Lights Out
Short film about a man (Alex) who goes home after work to meet his daughter again after 25 years. He left her when she was 5 years old. This will be the reunion with his daughter he has been waiting a long time for. But on his way home he hears a scream and finds his colleague unconscious on the floor. He dials the police, and when he checks the security cameras to see what has happened, she is suddenly gone. Everything happens while the lights go out for just a second. He goes back to the place where his colleague was just a minute ago, only her walkie-talkie remains. At that moment the police arrive, questioning him. The story sounds very weird to the officer and thinks it's a false alarm. When the officer leaves, the lights go out again. Alex is strangled. Then we see the woman who has strangled Alex, it's his daughter.
