Jackie Sands, a washed-up comedienne thrown out of her Upper Eastside apartment by her married boyfriend, finds refuge at Hotel Bleu. There she meets Jay, a charismatic trumpet player, who challenges her wise cracking abrasiveness. Rediscovering her passion as a singer, she realizes that aging isn't such a tragedy as long as she can sing the blues.

Unable to overcome her sister's death after 20 years, "A" is barely surviving, living in denial. Routine and obsession bind her into a surreal world, isolated from reality. A message from beyond suddenly forces her to face her demons.
