On Green Island in the 1950s, the female thought prisoners chose to fight for freedom, but were more forcefully suppressed by the authority. They held on to their beliefs and hoping for true freedom to come.

A mortuary in Taiwan stores the bodies of deceased children whose parents, for whatever reason, have disappeared. Their remains are kept at the top of a freezer, sometimes for years, until the funeral home organizes a ceremony. Houses and horses made of paper are burned to accompany the children on their solitary journey to the afterlife.

During Lunar New Year, a family gathers to eat; but nobody is eating. Grandma looks towards the empty chair, nobody dares to start the meal. The room stays silent as the hot pot bubbles.
