Kreso is in the eighth grade of elementary school and loves motorcycles and playing pinball. Because of his hobbies, he has a reputation as a bad boy, and he doesn't fare any better with grades either. His single mother is torn between jobs and has no understanding for his problems, so the boy is left to manage on his own.

The titular character takes a trip by train while talking about himself and the dead language he’s teaching while interacting with other passengers.

Once a year, on his father’s name day, Slavek Slivar, an employee of the city waterworks, is traveling with his wife and daughter to the village outside Zagreb to congratulate “years” to his father who lives there. Slavek’s sister Mira and her husband Miroslav also come here to congratulate.

A mysterious old man arrives in an apartment of a retired widow claiming she called him for coffee.
