Recently widowed from a fisherman, Cilene faces both grief and the struggle to survive. She turns to José, the son of a neighbor, who helps her keep the fishing alive. Guided by the ebb and flow of the tide, Cilene and José find a bond in the depths of their emptiness.

Tatisa eagerly gets ready to go to the highly anticipated Green Ball, but chooses to ignore her father who is dying in silence in the next room. Her friend Lu, who anticipates this tragic end, tries to help her come to terms with the inevitability of loss.
