Felipe, a young lazy and insensitive stock trader, begins to see subtitles of the people he talks to: the subtext of what they really mean. Sara, his best friend, a young translator, is the only one whose words he cannot see subtitled, perhaps because she truly understands him and speaks to him with transparency. The film depicts the life of Cristina, a young middle-class mother financially supported by an emotionally absent mother. She is haunted by her previous relationship with Walter, the father of Darwin, her son. Habit, comfort and suppression make her numb and loveless. Her fleeting romantic adventures with other men are not enough to push her away from this uncertain equilibrium. The only thing that seems to make sense in her life is little Darwin, who shines a light in her life.

Through an extraordinary 17-minute sequence shot, we accompany a young and dysfunctional couple who are about to have their first child. On the way to the hospital, labor pains mix with mutual complaints, and calls from relatives add reckless comments to a more than desperate situation.
