The HBO Boxing broadcast of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs. Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez took on September 9, 2017, at StubHub Center in Carson, California. This super flyweight rematch features Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defending his WBC Super Flyweight title against former pound-for-pound king Roman Gonzalez, who seeks to avenge his controversial majority decision loss from March 2017. Srisaket, riding a wave of confidence after his upset win, faces a determined Gonzalez, who landed 441 punches, including a record 372 power shots, in their first bout. The card also includes Naoya Inoue vs. Antonio Nieves for the WBO Super Flyweight title and Carlos Cuadras vs. Juan Francisco Estrada in a WBC title eliminator.

Estrada (43-3, 28 KO) and Chocolatito (51-3, 41 KO) first met way back in 2012, when both were in the 108 lb division. Gonzalez won a decision to retain his WBA title that night, and as he went up the weight classes, Estrada chased behind him, hoping for an eventual rematch. That rematch didn’t come for over eight years, but the two met again in early 2021. In that one, Estrada got a debated split decision nod, retaining the WBA and WBC titles at 115 lbs. Since then, Estrada has given up both belts, though he does have the WBC’s “Franchise” belt.

Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez returns to the ring against Julio Cesar Martinez. The WBC flyweight champion steps up in weight to face Gonzalez after his original opponent, Juan Francisco Estrada, pulled out of their scheduled trilogy fight.

Gennady Golovkin unified the IBF and WBA middleweight titles with an eight-round TKO of David Lemieux in October 2015, and the undefeated champion is now slated to do battle with mandatory IBF challenger Dominic Wade on April 23, 2016.
