Makhan, an ordinary man, climbs the ladder and becomes a big businessman after losing his mundane job. However, his happiness is short-lived when his greed compels him to do something drastic. Based on a story by Manik Bandyopadhyay.

A young woman whose baby is ill decides to take him to the local hospital. A journalist takes her there and intends to write about her, as she symbolizes the abandonment and misery of the town. He returns to the hospital where, in the meantime, the baby has died.
