"Can we continue playing yoyo?" It was a million-dollar question for Dae-yeol, Dong-hun, Hyun-woong, Dong-keon, and Jong-ki, all of whom had been yoyoing since childhood. In summer 2011, the five boys decided to go for the stages they had been dreaming of—it was going to be the last time before they say goodbye to their yoyo. Four of them, Dae-yeol, Dong-hun, Hyun-woong, and Dong-keon, went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Jong-ki couldn’t afford the travel and took his shot at a TV talent show competition in Korea. The five tasted dreamlike moments, which, in turn, made their choices more difficult. Now, the yoyo means something different for each of them. But they have to face daunting reality no matter where they stand.

Witnesses 2025 is an omnibus of two short documentaries. 1948, 사라진 병사들 traces the truth of the Yeosu–Suncheon Rebellion, which began on October 19, 1948, when soldiers of the 14th Regiment refused orders for the Jeju April 3rd suppression, declaring they “could not kill their own people.” 얼굴, 얼굴들 follows the life and legacy of a friend who dedicated himself to uncovering the truth behind state-sanctioned suspicious deaths.

Joo-yeon accidentally finds out that there is a woman who has disappeared from within her family. Along the way, she encounters women who have disappeared without a name.

Four people appeared in different films with their memory of the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising. They now take photos in the same place they used to be four decades ago, with similar facial expressions. Forty years later, how would they feel about the memory of the day and the films that tell their memories?

On a wintery night, Juyeon receives a call from her father. In his drunken voice, he leaves strange remarks, “Don’t become like your aunt who committed suicide.” Stunned by the family secret, she starts chasing the traces of her aunt, who resembles her strikingly. Juyeon breaks the suffocating silence and recreates her aunt’s lost voice through animation.

In 2012, the cleaning ladies working at the Korea National University of Arts got organised. Their working conditions are deteriorating, and it is time for them to make their voices heard.

Eyeglasses sitting before the camera bring back everyday memories of they witnessed: when the wearer's eyes became poor, and how they felt when they started to wear glasses for the first time. The conversation naturally moves from the old them to missing 'black horn-rimmed eyeglasses.' 30 years ago, when the glasses floated to the surface of the sea, they all started to view the world differently. Now that they are older, they cannot see the world without glasses. Eyeglasses can sometimes be uncomfortable and bothersome, but while memories may fade away, the black horn-rimmed glasses have witnessed decades. The newly-appeared glasses bring with them a question - whether they can go through such difficult times again. The eyeglasses begin to give their own answers.

Juyeon's grandmother has lived in the same house in Gwangju for over thirty years. She was living there at the time of the uprising on 18 May 1980. Three decades later, the bullet hole is still visible on the balcony. Juyeon decides to delve into her grandmother's past.
