In 1960 he graduated from the Shchukin Theater School (course of V.K. Lvova). From 1960 to 1970 - actor at the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater. Since 1970 - director of the literary and dramatic editorial office of Central Television. Son of Vakhtangov Theater actor Vladimir Aleksandrovich Pokrovsky. He was buried with him at Zhavoronki station.
