Set in the rock'n roll universe of the 1950s, »Cinder Rock'n Rella« is a classic tale, about Mille, who lives with her mum and dreams of becoming a musical star. When they stake all they have on a new milk-shake bar things begin to look up and the local film studios even want a girl to play a leading part that's just up Mille's street. But mum suddenly dies, leaving Mille deep in debt to her evil auntie and cousin, who'd rather be rid of Mille once and for all. Luckily heaven sends a couple of angels and Topper, a good fairy.

On a routine voyage, a spaceship from the distant future lands on the remains of planet Earth, which, after a long ice age, is deserted and covered in snow. The two descendants of the now extinct human race (Martin Brygmann and Xenia Lach-Nielsen) hesitantly go ashore, but they fumble around so much that they fall into a crevasse. At the bottom of it, they find a treasure chest of films from "the good old days" and, through the film reels, they suddenly experience crazy situations performed by the very mysterious and not entirely ordinary human race.

There is magic in the air when Szhirley, Jimmy Jørgensen, Lea Thiim Harder, and many others perform in the musical, which features a string of the greatest hits from the 1980s. Through the music, a poignant story is told about a group of people who are reminded of the dreams they once dared to have, the life that was possible back then, and the love they may be allowed to experience again.
